Volunteers are an integral part of the team at St Giles Animal Welfare Centre.
If you adore and respect animals, volunteering with St Giles could be ideal for you. Help to enhance the lives of the animals in their care and assist the hard working staff caring for them. Numerous opportunities exist: Dog walking, Office Help, Maintenance /Odd Jobs, home visits, Cat Cuddling or join the events team. Give as much or as little time as you can manage.
As mentioned in this column previously, the number of dogs and cats needing help is at an all time high and the centre would struggle without its highly valued volunteers; it needs their help to be able to carry out its awe-inspiring work.
Volunteering is rewarding, promotes self esteem and is an opportunity to meet like minded people and make friends whilst making a difference, to name but a few benefits.
Do you have time you could devote to volunteering ? For more information contact volunteer@sgaw.co.uk or complete the application form on the website.
For a taste of how much fun this can be listen to Jane and Susan give a lovely account of their roles as Cat Cuddlers on the volunteer section of the website.
Mamoo needs love and understanding
Mamoo the cat is a stunning Bengal Cross, around two years old, she arrived at St Giles from the RSPCA along with her four kittens.
She was very timid on arrival but has improved. Mamoo is a little temperamental. She likes her own space and human company, on her terms; she needs a human who understands that she is independent and doesn’t always want cuddles and fuss.
Mamoo loves treats, food and lying in the sun and would adore a garden where she could sunbath and learn to be more energetic.
Mamoo would be best suited to a home with children over 12 years and dog free. She could live with another calm cat but probably best as the only cat.
Mamoo is in need of an understanding and loving family that she could spend the rest of her life with.
