TAUNTON Racecourse get their new season off to a flying start tomorrow (October 30) when they host their Family Fun Day Race Meeting with the first of the seven races on the card due off at 1.30pm.

Ideal conditions of good- good to soft in places and a cool £33k up for grabs has attracted a large number of runners for each race.

Champion jockey A.P.McCoy along with Ruby Walsh, Tom Scudamore and Robert Thornton are all booked for rides so a thrilling afternoon of National Hunt action looks in store for local punters.

The feature race of the day is a Class 3 Handicap Steeplechase over two miles and half a furlong and carries prize money worth £9,000 at 4pm in which Shooters Wood, Mibleu and Royale’s Charter all look likely contenders.

A courtesy coach service departs from Taunton Train Station an hour before the first race, picking up at the Bus Station on Castle Green shortly afterwards and returns from the course 30 minutes after the last.
