Taunton Town drew 0-0 with Cirencester Town in the Evo-Stik league at Wordsworth Drive yesterday.
It was a much improved display by Town who can count themselves unfortunate not to earn victory.
James Blake was foiled by Cirencester keeper Lee Clatworthy either side of the interval and Jamie Short's shot hit the post as Taunton created the bulk of the chances.
Peacocks keeper Matt Urwin was rarely troubled at the other end, Town manager Leigh Robinson said: "I said this week that we had to rediscover our defensive steel and concentration and that's exactly what we did.
"Defensively we were fantastic and going forward we created the better chances and were unfortunate not to take all three points.
"It's a decent start to November and a huge step in the right direction in terms of regaining our confidence."
