MINEHEAD face Somerset County league leaders Berrow today (Saturday) at 3pm in just one of many re-arranged games forced on the league.

The Blues, who had been preparing themselves for a string of consecutive away games throughout November, are now preparing themselves for their toughest league test this season.

Chairman Brian Walder sees it as an unexpected opportunity to show home supporters they can compete with the best teams in the league.

Berrow, who have won nine of their opening ten league games this season, also started last season in a similar fashion.

Berrow’s away form is even more impressive than their home, having recorded four straight wins with just one goal conceded.

Walder said: “We certainly won’t be shying away from this one – we’ve scored 13 times in our last three games and if we are going to climb the league we will have to beat teams above us.” Minehead will be without midfielder Luke Bloys who is serving a one match suspension.

Minehead Reserves, who have themselves scored 12 without reply in their last two games, are away from home again with a trip to Norton Fitzwarren for a Seward Cup, second round tie.

WATCHET face a lively Errea county league encounter today when they entertain Bishops Lydeard (2.30pm).

Manager Steve Perkins has been forced to make constant changes to his side in recent weeks which has disrupted performances.

More changes are expected on Saturday, although one bonus will be the return from University of classy midfielder Jack Page.

Last Saturday Watchet suffered a disappointing 2-1 league defeat at Ilminster.

Tayler Maddock gave them the lead with a superb free kick but then conceded the penalty which let Ilminster back into the match.
