A WELLINGTON School pupil is the new Somerset intermediate girls multi-event champion.
Anya Turner, who is in Year 9, won the heptathlon in the Somerset Schools AA Combined Events Championship held over two days at Millfield School.
The seven events included 80m hurdles, shot, high jump, long jump, 200m, javelin and 800m.
Finishing second in four of the events, Anya recorded a total score of 4,257, putting her more than 100 points clear of her nearest rival. Her two most impressive performances came in the 80m hurdles with a time of 12.43s and the javelin with a throw of 31.85m.
Other entrants from the school were Cerys Lee, who finished 14th in the junior girls pentathlon, and Felix Tyson, who was seventh in the intermediate boys octathlon.
