KING'S College will be the first independent school girl’s football team to tour Hong Kong when they fly out for an eight day tour next month.
During their time away the 11 girls will be playing a number of matches and taking part in a tournament involving at least six Hong Kong teams.
The party will be staying with host families and during their time away will be experiencing some of the cultural attractions of the city.
Chris Heayns, head of football at King’s College, said: “The idea of a trip to Hong Kong originally came about as a result of an email contact between myself and the coach of two girls who have just joined us from Kowloon Cricket Club.
“Everybody is excited about the trip and the girls are really looking forward to going to play football as well as experiencing the culture.”
Richard Biggs the headmaster at King’s, said: “King’s College has been confirmed as the leading independent schools in the UK for girls’ football.
“We are delighted with this recent success and it is fitting that the girls should be leading the way with this exciting tour.
“I know the city well and am sure that the King’s party will embrace and revel in its energy and that they will enjoy a typically warm Hong Kong welcome.
“I am also sure that they will, through their football and in the way they conduct themselves, do the school proud.
“I wish them every success on the tour and look forward to hearing the tales on their return.”
The party departs for on December 9 and returns on December 17.
