OAKS, last years champions, dropped their only point of the season when they beat newly- promoted Trull 9-1 in Division 1 of the Taunton and district Short Mat bowls league.
In the triples Carol Hawins/Karl Hudson/Martin Cowlin won 11-4 and Dave Hutter/Barry Keirle/Keith Hawkins won 11-6.
Both pairs matches were fairly evenly matched.
Catherine Cowline/Dan Winmill drew 11-11 and on the other mat Jack Baker/Andrew Cowlin took four shots on the last end to win 10-8.
In Division 2 Acorns suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 6-4 to local rivals Combwich.
In the triples Acorns Mollie Gay/Peter Stiles/Dave Poole won 11-5 against Robert Guard/June Young/Brian Ayley while on the other mat the honours went to Combwich’s Joan Selway/Steve Parker/Maurice Howard 14-8 against Debbie Mitchell/Colin Gay/Judith Shackleford.
In the pairs Oaks’ Merv Selway/Jill Sellick won 11-10 against Caroline Darch/Tom Dougal but the home team pairing of Pauline Rusell/June Woodman went down 1-17 to Lynn Miller/Marcus Ford.
