JADE Clarke, Wellington School’s national fencing champion has received a prestigious award.
Jade, 17, was invited to London to receive an award from The Worshipful Company of Cutlers for her achievement in winning the British Cadet Women’s Foil Fencing Championships this year.
She was given a grandstand seat outside St Paul’s to watch The Lord Mayor’s Show and enjoyed lunch at The Cutlers Hall, where she sat beside The Master.
The unforgettable day was topped by a spectacular fireworks display over the Thames in the evening and Jade had a thoroughly enjoyable sampling the hospitality of this ancient and historic livery hall.
Jade’s fencing career has been meteoric and she will now move up to the Under-20 category of fencing, which is a great challenge for the 17-year -old pupil.
