‘FIFTY something’ Minehead Reserves assistant manager Gavin Taylor achieved his long-term ambition of appearing in the same team as his son Braden, when he came on as a rolling sub in last Saturday’s exciting cup tie at The Rec.
Though not unique, this rare experience made Saturday belong to the Taylors, particularly as Braden scored three times in the tie which their team won to reach the final 16 of the county-wide Somerset Intermediate Cup.
Gavin said: “This is one of the proudest moments of my life. Exactly 40 years and 216 days ago I made my debut in senior football.
“To play on the same pitch as my lad, in a competitive match was something I had always dreamed about.”
The family occasion was made complete when daughter Briallen, a budding photographer, took this photograph in the steamed-up dressing room after the victory.
