GOLF: Kelly wins on countback at Oake
OAKE held a men’s weekend Stableford on Sunday.
In Division One there was a struggle for the top place between Cyril Kelly, James Macey (2nd) and Rob Watkins (3rd) who all finished on 40 points and had to be separated by countback.
Next were Simon Greaves and Michael Bright both with 38 points. Sixth was Lee Ayres (36) points and seventh Ricky Salway (36).
Division Two result: 1 Henry Mellor (42pts), 2 Rod Sully (39), 3 Charles Hardman (39), 4 Pete Jeanes (38), 5 Matthew Bright (38), 6 David Kinnear (37) points. On Tuesday a very wet Ladies 3:2:1: Better Ball (7/8 handicap) competition took place which saw only one team of three intrepid ladies left standing on the 18th with a remarkable score of 61 points.
