RICHARD Huish College’s girls hockey team has secured a place at the Association of College National Championships after remaining unbeaten in the recent South-West tournament.
The girls went into the tournament, at the University of St Mark and St John, Plymouth, with high expectations – and didn’t disappoint.
The draw saw them face Truro in the first game and after a cagey start they scored to take a slim 1-0 win.
It was then that the games came thick and fast and saw the players step up and put in some great performances against Bridgwater, Strode and Exeter College, to secure their place amongst the elite at the nationals in March, at Bath University.
Super striker Ruth Butcher, from Ilminster, who was brought on to beef up the Huish attack, said: ‘’It was a great team effort for all the girls, we all gave 100% and are looking forward to playing against the best in the country.’’
