MILVERTON Red Dragons Karate Club finished well clear in the medal table at the Devon Karate Championships held in Exmouth.
They picked up 16 medals – double that of the second-placed team.
Red Dragons faced 12 other clubs from across the region – Exeter, Plymouth, Barnstaple, Ivybridge, Tiverton, Wellington, Exmouth, Exeter University, Dartmouth, Willand and Cullompton.
Childrens Ippon Kumite under 10s: Cerys Eva (1st Dan, aged 9) 2nd.
Childrens Ippon Kumite 10-11yrs: James Eva (1st Dan, 11) 1st, George Rylatt (1st Kyu, 11) 2nd, William Don (7th Kyu, 10) 3rd Boys Kumite 12-15 Under 5' 3: Daniel Johnson (1st Kyu, 14) 2nd, Matt Folkes (1st Kyu, 15) 3rd, Charlie Don (7th Kyu, 14) 3rd (joint).
Girls Kumite 12-16: Thea Priest (1st Dan, 14) 1st Junior Individual Kata Kyu.
Grades: Charlie Don 1st Junior Individual Kata Black & Brown Belt: Matt Folkes 1st, Cerys Eva 2nd, Daniel Johnson 3rd & James Eva 4th.
Junior Team Kata: Milverton A (Matt Folkes, Daniel Johnson, Thea Priest) 1st, Milverton B (Cerys Eva, James Eva, George Rylatt) 2nd, Milverton C (Charlie & Wiliam Don, Taine D’arby (7th Kyu, 10)) 4th.
Instructor Peter Milne said: “Our club is growing fast.
“We only have limited spaces remaining for anyone who wishes to become a member.
“We have students aged 7+ to adults from all over the region including Milverton, Taunton, Wellington, Cotford St Luke and Hemyock.”
