TAUNTON Town have appointed former Bristol Rovers midfielder, Michael Meaker as their new assistant manager, replacing Mo Hopkins.
Hopkins recently stepped down from his position as first team assistant manager – and Meaker, who also played for QPR, says he hopes to ‘push the club forward to achieve success’.
“It’s great being chosen as the new assistant manager at Taunton,” Meaker said.
“After meeting with Leigh (Robinson) he came across so well and told me what a great club it is with good people behind you which I think is very important to gain success.
“Being there a few weeks now I can see why, it’s got a fantastic feel about it and a great bunch of players to work with.
“I’m really pleased to have joined Taunton and will hopefully help push the club forward to achieve success.”
Robinson said: “It’s great to have Meaks on board - he’s a very talented and well connected coach and to have someone with his playing experience on the staff can only benefit us as a team and certainly our younger players, from a development perspective.”
Taunton Town hope Mo Hopkins will remain in his role of Head of Football Development, ‘subject to further discussion’.
