TAUNTON Town head to sixth-placed Didcot Town tomorrow (ko 3pm), looking to make it 10 games unbeaten.

The ninth game in that run was last weekend’s win over Merthyr Town in the FA Trophy, following which they have had a free midweek to prepare for the Didcot trip.

It kicks off a busy November schedule of eight matches for the Peacocks.

Set-piece maestro Ben Adelsbury is suspended this weekend after picking up five yellow cards, but defender Chris McGrath and striker Omar Simpson return to the squad.

Didcot have won four of their six home games so far this campaign, so boss Leigh Robinson is in no doubt that his side’s unbeaten record will come under some scrutiny.

“We always have tough games there,” he said.

“We have to be wary, as we were against AFC Totton, of a team that has made a good start to the season, and we have to perform well.

“We’re in a good place, as we’re winning games, we’ve freshened up the squad with a couple of additions, and we take great confidence from the Merthyr result.

“But if you get ahead of yourself in this league, you’ll come unstuck, so you always have to respect the opposition.”

INEVITABLY, the build-up to the match has been overshadowed by the departure of club stalwart Owen Irish for local rivals Tiverton Town.

On Irish's exit, captain Matt Wright said: "It's Owen's own personal preference.

"After nine years he's decided it's time to move on, and I wish him all the best.

"I hope we will be fine [without him], as we have an unbelievable squad.

"Shane [White], Brett [Trowbridge] and Ben [Adelsbury] have played well at the back, so Owen hasn't got back in the team.

"It's good to have that competition for places, and if you're on the bench you've got to be patient - as Matt Buse was last year.

"He was in and out of the team, but played a key part in games at the end of the season."
