WELLINGTON boss Leigh Robinson is certain his side are good enough to win promotion as they prepare for their first Toolstation League Division One game of the season this Saturday.

The Tangerines kick-off the new campaign with a trip to the Hand Stadium where they face one of last season's strugglers Clevedon Utd and travel to play Bridport on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Robinson, who has recruited former Taunton assistant manager Danny Phillips as his number two, has kept together all but one of last season's squad which finished seventh and made some useful additions.

And, following their encouraging pre-season, Robinson believes there are no teams in the division his side cannot beat.

He said: "We've had a great pre-season. The lads are exactly where we want them to be fitness-wise and we've had some excellent results and performances, particularly against Chard and Willand.

"Myself and Danny have got a huge amount of faith in the players we've got and believe they can really achieve something this season.

"There's plenty of quality in the squad, they get on well off the field and have a great deal of faith in each other's ability.

"There won't be a single game this season - home or away - that we go into not believing we are good enough to win.

"With Truro and Ilfracombe going up, that's four very difficult games taken out of the equation.

"We won't be looking to just cruise along this season, we want success and there's no reason why that can't mean promotion."

Robinson will be without right back Tim Legg (injured) and left-sided Matt Fowler (holiday), for the Clevedon game, while striker Eubio do Rosario has not yet committed to the club.

Wellington will start the season with a new keeper after last season's stopper Shaun Locke was told he would not be first choice. Ryan Lewis, who played for Culm Utd in the Devon and Exeter League last season will start against Clevedon.

Wellington completed their pre-season programme of matches with a 4-1 win away to Willand Reserves on Saturday - Shaun Anthony and Craig Herrod hitting two apiece.

Wellington: Ryan Lewis, Simon Elsley, Dan Short, Scott Holland, Dave Anthony, Craig Mawford, Craig Herrod, James Clough, Andy Butler, Nick Woon, Shaun Anthony, Greg Blenkinsop, Simon Ingram, Mark Fitzgerald, Eubio do Rosario, Cam Nott.
