SOMERSET'S new overseas player Neil McKenzie admits he has some high standards to live up to after being brought in for the rest of the season.
The 31-year-old batsman, who has played 41 Tests and 59 one- dayers for South Africa, has replaced Cameron White who joins up with an Australia training camp after this Sunday's Pro40 game away to Glamorgan.
McKenzie, recommended to the county by their former batting star Jimmy Cook, arrived in the country this week and is currently playing for Somerset 2nd XI against Hampshire at Taunton CC.
"I have played in Test matches against both Justin Langer and Marcus Trescothick so it will be nice to have them on my side for a change," he said.
"I am also looking forward to learning something from my experiences of playing alongside these guys.
"Everyone has got their own particular way of doing things so I shall be looking forward to making a good contribution.
"My own style is to look to entertain when I can, but I have also got a solid defence as well when needed.
"Somerset are top of the Championship table so I know that when I come here I have got some high standards to live up to.
"Cameron White has had a good season, so I have got some big boots to fill."
