WELLINGTON sides Mowers and Redskins will go head to head in a two-legged match for a place at the Grand Finals of the Blackthorn British Skittles Championship.
Mowers, from the Barley Mow, have secured their place in the second knockout round with an impressive 100% win record.
Having won their group they proceeded into the first knockout round against Somerset Tryers from Pawlett. They took a 37-pin advantage from the away leg and won the second leg 302-291 to ease through.
Redskins, who play their home matches at the Cottage Inn, qualified through the group stage in second place and faced group winners Head Gate Tufters from South Molton in the first knockout round.
In the first leg at home, Redskins cruised to a 365-317 victory and also won the second comfortably to set up a meeting with their arch rivals.
Redskins have competed in the Blackthorn Championships every year and successfully qualified for the Grand Finals each time.
This is the Mowers' second year in the championships and they also qualified for the Grand Finals last year.
But this year, only one Wellington side will claim a place in the last 16 and Grand Finals which take place at the Sand Bay Holiday Village, Weston-Super-Mare on Saturday, September 22.
The winning team in each of the three categories - men, ladies and mixed - will receive a cheque for £1,000 and runners-up will receive £500 from sponsors Blackthorn Cider.
