ASHBRITTLE enjoyed an excellent weekend in the West Somerset League - picking up the KO Cup and maintaining the pressure on Division One leaders Stogumber.
In Sunday's KO Cup final at Stogumber, they scored an imposing 151-4 against Crowcombe who were then bowled out for 106.
In the Hinkley Point Cup final earlier in the day, Bagborough 2nds were dismissed for 158 before bowling Hinkley Point out for 110.
A day earlier, Asbrittle kept in touch with leaders Stogumber with a crushing 155-run victory at home to Carhampton. Andy Hill led the way with a fine 119 as the hosts piled up 270-3 - Rob Williams (67) and Chris Hill (40 not out) also contributing. Martyn Norman then snapped up 5-38 as Carhampton were bowled out for 115.
Stogumber maintained their 36-point lead with a 53-run win at home to Brompton Ralph. Simon Penny (75) and James Rexworthy (59) were in the runs as Stogumber made 238-7 batting first - Keith Piper took 4-61 for Brompton. The visitors were then bowled out for 185, Chris Garwood (5-47) and Toby Gilbert (4-50) doing the damage.
Dave Boyce (98) and Dan Stone (97) just missed out on centuries for Dulverton who scored 241 at home to Taunton Deane Crusaders, who were then bowled out for just 64.
Chris Brewer snapped up 5-39 as Crowcombe bowled Winsford out for 171. Tyrone Ash led the way with 54 as Crowcombe reached their target for the loss of three wickets.
In Division Two, Gareth Bellamy continued his prolific season with a superb 118 not out as leaders Huish Champflower reached 207-3 away to Bishop's Hull, James Escott contributing 55 not out. Huish then bowled the hosts out for 104, E. Bradbury taking 4-35.
Jason Merry (74) and Gavin Fitzpatrick (54 not out) were in the runs for West Monkton in their victory at home to Blagdon Hill, while Miles Richards cracked 61 in Bridgetown's five-wicket victory at home to Lydeard St Lawrence.
Wiveliscombe remain on course for the third division title following their eight-wicket win at home to Ashbrittle 2nds. Jimmy Beale took 5-30 as Ashbrittle were bowled out for 121. Ross Porter then scored 58 not out as Wivey cruised to their target.
Minehead A suffered their first defeat of the season in Division Four, as they went down by 35 runs away to Trull. Aaron Lake knocked 60 as the hosts made 180 all out. Minehead were then bowled out for 145.
Mickey Masters enjoyed another excellent match with bat and ball for Taunton A who won by ten wickets at home to Stogumber 2nds. The visitors were restricted 144-7 batting first - Masters took 4-28 - before Taunton made it to their target with Masters (61) and Charlies Hunt (42) the unbeaten batsmen.
J. Parry secured remarkable figures of 6-7 to help Crowcombe 2nds bowl their Bishop's Hull counterparts out for 102, despite the efforts of C. Plumridge (44). Earlier in the day A. Taylor scored 51 in Crowcombe's innings of 191, with Plumridge picking up 3-64. Maurice Burns (62) and D. Barrow (75) were in the runs for Fitzhead 2nds who won by four wickets away to North Newton.
In Division Five, Angelo Stone (96 not out) and R. Wright (50 not out) helped Brompton 2nds chase down Over Stowey's 197-8 for the loss of one wicket.
Stoke St Gregory remain well clear at the top thanks to a three-wicket victory away to Taunton Shadows. Russell Yard scored 51 and Ben Hembrow took 4-33 as Shadows were all out for 139. Stoke then reached their target despite the efforts of Chris McKee (4-28).
