CREECH St Michael are aiming to overcome the disappointment of last season when they narrowly missed out on a place in the Division Two promotion play-off.

They finished third in Division Two West, with goal difference denying them second spot and the play-off.

But manager Roy Porter has recruited a host of new players to suppplement last season's squad and is confident, once they have gelled, they will be a match for anyone.

He said: "This is a difficult division to get out of with only one team automatically promoted, and I think it will be even tougher this season.

"I think we'll take a while to get going because we've got so many new players in the squad.

"But by mid-season, when we've gelled, I think we will be as strong as we've ever been."

Among the new recruits are Ashley Parker, a midfielder with Ilminster last season, Ryan Hocking, defender Jeff Moores and Gareth Acott, who has come in from Staplegrove.

Porter will also be able to call on midfielder Shaun Bresnahan again after he missed the second half of last season through injury.

Out of last season's squad, James Coleman, Sam Smith and Andy Collins have all moved on.

Creech start the season at home to Langford Rovers.
