SOMERSET Vikings won their first game of the new season on Saturday, away to Bath RL.
The visitors took control after just two minutes, Marcus Brooker going over for a try converted by Josh Wood to make it 6-0.
Brooker scored two more tries to claim his hat-trick, and Jacob Hill scored another, but it was Bath who finished the half stronger and they then levelled after the restart.
The Vikings were really struggling now, falling 34-28 behind, but from the kick-off the away side turned the tide by hitting the line hard, Dan Hinton bursting through to level matters once again.
Hill went over for another try, but the hosts answered in kind to make it 38-38 with three minutes to go.
One last push saw Wood outpace several opponents before improvising a kick through for Hill to collect and score the decisive try, Wood converting on the final whistle.
The Vikings are based in Weston-super-Mare but have players from across Somerset, including Wellington and Minehead, with new recruits welcome - click here for more details.
