FORMER Taunton Town captain Brett Trowbridge has called time on his stay at the Viridor Stadium, saying he is 'proud' to helped the club gain momentum and league promotion.
Trowbridge spent his early career at his hometown club of Bridgwater Town, playing for the Robins for six years, before four seasons at Weston-super-Mare.
He joined Taunton in May 2014, departed for Yate Town in 2015, but then returned to the Peacocks in February 2016.
He was appointed Taunton captain for the 2016/17 season by manager Leigh Robinson, and as skipper he led the team to the Evo-Stik Southern League South & West playoff semi-finals, while also winning the Somerset Premier Cup.
Capable of playing in defence or midfield, Trowbridge was a regular in the Peacocks side until early 2018, when he suffered a fractured eye socket.
The subsequent operation kept him out until April, when he made a cameo appearance off the bench against Slimbridge.
What a journey it’s been @TauntonTownFC but time to say goodbye. I’m playing closer to my new home for various reasons and will miss the club, fans, management and players. A great club that is going places, proud to have been a part of the process. Up the peacocks ✈️💜💙

Trowbridge's new club is yet to be confirmed, but there's no doubt that his experience and cool head under pressure will be missed at the Viridor Stadium.
