BGB Southern League Division 1 (S&W): Taunton Town 0, Paulton Rovers 1.
TAUNTON Town went down to a single goal defeat in their opening home game as Paulton gained revenge for their play-off defeat at the end of last season.
Paulton went closest in a first half of few chances with Taunton keeper Ian Jones making a couple of smart saves early on while Rob Claridge headed an effort over the bar.
The visitors scored what turned out to be the winner two minutes into the second half when Chris Lane's pull back was missed by Jones and Dan Cleverly rolled the ball into ann empty net.
The goal sparked Taunton into life as they enjoyed their best spell of the game.
The lively Danny Copeland had a shot cleared off the line by Rob Cousins, while substitute Ronnie Mowatt glanced a header onto the post with five minutes left.
Possibly the best chance fell to another sub, Charlie Welch, in the dying minutes as he sent a header over the bar from close range.
