TAUNTON footballer Emily Syme has celebrated her 18th birthday by signing her first professional contract, with FA Women’s Super League side Yeovil Town Ladies.
Syme, who studied at Richard Huish College and represented them on the pitch, as well as Bishops Lydeard Ladies, came through the Somerset FA Centre of Excellence.
The attacking midfielder has been involved with England since the age of 15, making almost 20 appearances for her country, most recently for the Under-18 side against Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The Lady Glovers’ new head coach, Lee Burch, said: “Emily is a really exciting prospect for not only Yeovil Town Ladies but also England.
“Giving young players the opportunity to shine and develop at the highest level is something both myself and the club are passionate about, and we are excited to help Emily reach her potential.”
