TAUNTON'S Andrew Bettles joined up with Great Britain international team-mate George Morgan to win the boys' 14 and under doubles at the Junior Nationals at Bournemouth.
The number one seeds beat Lloyd Glasspool and Sidhartah Hazarika (Warwickshire) 6-0, 6-1 in the final.
Victory was some consolation for Bettles who earlier in the day had reached the final of the singles, only to lose to number one seed Morgan 6-4, 6-4.
In the opening round, Bettles had to work hard to beat Hazarika 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) before coasting to the final.
Richard Huish tennis scholar Alistair Felton, beaten by second seed Daniel Evans (Warks) in the first round of the boys' 18 and under singles, beat Alexander Bull (Surrey) 7-5, 7-5 and Jack Hartman (Dorset) 7-5, 7-5 on his way to the consolation final where he took the title after beating Christop Harrison 6-4, 6-4.
James Marsalek, also a student at Richard Huish, and surprisingly beaten in the opening round of the boy's 16 and under singles, bounced back to win the consolation event, beating Michael Ajibade (Lancs) 6-4, 3-6, 10-1 in the final.
Taunton's Natalie Ayton won three titles at the Burnham Open that included the Somerset senior county closed title, beating Kerry Matthews 6-1, 6-0 in the final.
In the Burnham Open ladies' doubles final, Ayton partnered Kerry Quirk (Taunton) to victory over Matthews and Charlotte Gadd 6-1, 6-2. The Burnham event also included the men's county closed singles which was won by Nathan Edwards who beat Jonathan Mitchell 6-4, 6-4 in the final.
