SOMERSET have released young wicket-keeper batsman Sam Spurway.
The 20-year-old, who has been on the staff for two years, started the season as the county's number one keeper.
But his place was quickly taken by South African Craig Kieswetter who has produced some impressive displays.
Spurway has also fallen behind Carl Gazzard and has been let go as Somerset only want two keepers on their staff.
Spurway said: "I started the season as the number one choice and don't really think that I have done anything wrong, but now I have been told that I am going to be released.
"I guess the trouble is that three into two doesn't go and I am the unfortunate one who is leaving.
"Now I have to start looking to the future and already I have been in touch with a couple of other clubs and it maybe that I will be having a trial with them before the end of this season."
Somerset's director of cricket Brian Rose said: "It is very sad that we have had to release Sam, but the club's policy in the future will be to keep only two wicket-keepers on the staff at one time."
