BISHOPS Lydeard maintained their hopes of claiming the runner-up spot in the Somerset Division with a 38-run victory at home to Street.
Missing four first team regulars on skipper Nick Taylor's stag weekend, Lydeard reached a satisfactory 160-6 from their 45 overs.
Veteran Dave Wood (25) and Dan Sizer (27) gave the innings a decent start and some lusty blows from Andy Sapey (19) and Graham Fitt (29) in an unbroken seventh-wicket stand pushed them up to 160.
In reply, Street were rarely in the contest and were eventually dismissed for 122.
Pick of the bowlers was young left-arm spinner Robbie Contreras, who picked up 3-19 from six overs, with Sapey, Justin Heyward and Justin Burke sharing the rest of the wickets to fall.
Stand-in skipper Brian Stone was wicket-less but only conceded 13 runs from eight overs of spin.
Lydeard complete the season this Saturday with a trip to face Cheddar.
