RUTHLESS Bishops Lydeard continued their flying start to the season with a 5-1 victory at home to Burnham Utd Reserves in Division One of the Somerset County League on Wednesday night.
Graham Mercieca, who hit a hat-trick in Saturday's victory over Backwell Reserves, started the scoring with a great strike from 25-yards out.
Sam Price-Bates volleyed the second from close range following a corner but, after the break, Burnham pulled a goal back.
Lydeard huffed and puffed in search of their third goal and the pressure eventually paid off when Price-Bates netted his second.
Ali Warren extended the lead with a trademark header and then completed the scoring himself late on.
Lydeard have won their opening three league games, having scored 12 goals and conceded just one.
