TAUNTON Town may have been without a league match yesterday, but the club has been busy off the field, bringing in two new players and reaching a contract agreement with highly-rated defender Nick Grimes.
The two new faces are Josiah Dunstan and Owen Windsor, now registered as part of the Peacocks squad on the Southern League website alongside returning midfielder Joe Charles.
Charles and Dunstan both played in last Wednesday's remarkable Challenge Cup tie, which saw Taunton beat Truro City 12-11 in a penalty shootout.
Dunstan, a 19-year-old defender, is formerly of the Hartpury football academy, and he made his debut in the semi-professional game with National League South side Hungerford Town this season.
There he played alongside fellow Taunton defender Grimes, as well as Windsor, who has come in on loan from Championship leaders West Bromwich Albion.
The 18-year-old midfielder/forward has experience of playing at Cirencester Town, and could well make his Peacocks debut this week.
Having been without a league game since November 16, Taunton have arranged a friendly match at home to Bideford on Tuesday (November 26, ko 7.45pm), with free admission for all.
The Peacocks then travel to Poole Town on Saturday, November 30, for their next league fixture.
Taunton go into that clash of promotion contenders boosted by the news that centre-back Grimes has been signed on contract forms until the end of the 2019/20 season.
The 21-year-old came in from Tiverton Town in August, and after a tough start which saw him sent off twice and pick up an injury, he has delivered several man of the match performances in defence.
