Wellington AFC 2, Roman Glass St George 1

TWO fine goals from young Ollie Holman helped secure Wellington their second win in three games, moving them up to 16th in the Premier Division table.

Without both regular goalkeepers and midfielder Mason Raymond - who suffered a pulled hamstring in the warm-up - player-manager Tim Legg was forced to field himself in a holding midfield role.

Even so, the Tangerines started well, and went ahead in the 24th minute, when Holman exchanged passes with Jack Lewis before slipping the ball home in composed fashion.

Roman Glass were much improved after the break, and equalised when Troy Simpson headed home, but the hosts managed to regain their composure.

The winner came after 69 minutes, as Jesse Howe set up Holman, who curled a superb left-footed effort into the top corner.

Wellington: Miles Quick, Josh Champion, Tom Davies, Jason Quick, Jack Lewis, Ollie Holman, Glen Wright, Scott Merritt, Tim Legg, George Sinnott, Jesse Howe. Subs (used): Cameron Sanford, Dan Williams, Wes Poulsom. Attendance: 68.

Wellington are to play away to Clevedon Town tomorrow (Wednesday, 7.30pm), ahead of a trip to leaders Plymouth Parkway on Saturday (3pm).

Division 1
Bishops Lydeard 5, Devizes Town 1

BISHOPS Lydeard rediscovered their confidence and form against fellow strugglers Devizes Town on Saturday, claiming their first points of the season in convincing style.

The hosts were two up in 20 minutes, with goals from Mark Cornish and Jack Kelly, as Kelly assisted the first and Michael Mullen the second.

Devizes pulled one back on the half-hour, with a deflected effort, but five minutes later Kelly crossed from the right and Amauri Ruiz fired in from the edge of the box.

And it was 4-1 just four minutes later, with Jack Groves-Furse setting up Luke Boyle to get himself on the scoresheet.

The visitors pressed for a way back into the game after the break, but to no avail.

The icing on Lydeard's cake came in the 89th minute, when Ruiz crossed for new signing Jesus Alves to fire home a powerful strike from 30 yards.

Bishops Lydeard: Jesus Alves, Luke Boyle, Luke Bryant, Mark Cornish, Joe Gill, Jack Groves-Furse, Jack Kelly, Sam Mockridge, Michael Mullen, Amauri Ruiz, Nathan Whatley, Reegan Scotcher.
