TAUNTON & Pickeridge Golf Club said farewell to Simon Stevenson and welcomed new head professional Jason Avery to his role on June 21, writes Richard Walsh.
After 17 years as head PGA professional, Stevenson is heading back to his native Dundee to become the general manager of Downfield GC.
He is carrying lots of happy memories and the grateful thanks of the members for his huge contribution to the club throughout his tenure.
Avery, a native of Honiton, has previously worked at Saunton and St Mellion Golf Clubs.
Following an extensive refurbishment of the shop, the new business will open on June 26.
This week 48 ladies took part in the Somerset Golf Union 9-hole Champion of Champions competition.
The winner was Jane Ledsham with 19 points, ahead of Barbara Barber (18) and Roz Pocklington (17).
Fifty seniors braved rather wet conditions to play The Norman Oakley, which resulted in three players ending on 37 points.
After countback, it was John Snell who won the trophy, with Vince Jackson second and Rob Hutchinson third.
