THE TAUNTON Titans have enjoyed a decent start to life in the National League Rugby for their first time in the club's history after winning three of the opening seven fixtures.

Head coach Tony Yapp is very proud of the performances the players have put in but more importantly of the comradery that has been built.

"I am massively proud of the squad, it was always going to be tough at this level as it is new for us, but we have done ourselves proud."

"All of the away trips have given time for the lads to gel together and the performances have reflected a close knit group," Yapp said.

The Titans had their match last weekend postponed due to Birmingham players isolating with COVID however it has now been rescheduled to this Saturday, November 6, kick off 3pm at Veritas Park.

As this will only be the club's third home game since the start of the season it would be good for Taunton locals to get down and see their team in action.

It will be a tough challenge though, Yapp believes every team in this competition can beat each other; he is expecting a hard game of rugby.

"Birmingham will be tough, they always are, but as I have said anyone can beat anyone on their day and we need to turn up."

"We have shown we can compete with the best, and look forward to competing in front of our fans once more," Yapp said.

Taunton started the season with back to back away wins at Leeds Tykes and Darlington Mowden Park, those wins were followed by losses at home to Rosslyn Park and away at Bishop's Stortford.

Somerset County Gazette:

In October the Titans won a thriller at home against Rams and then lost back to back away trips to Sale and Cinderford.

Tony Yapp said each game has been close and could have gone either way.

"We are happy with where we are, each game we have been competitive in and the games we have lost could have gone either way."

"I think what it shows is that you need to turn up for the full 80 minutes each week otherwise you will be made to pay," Yapp said.

For the rest of the season, Taunton are aiming high, they currently sit in tenth place in the league but have games in hand.

"We are excited to see how we go for the rest of the season but we are aiming high," Yapp said.

"The club is in a good place and we are confident in our team and we will reassess at season end."
