Taunton Town 2-1 Merthyr Town
A Ross Stearn goal deep into stoppage time snatched victory for the Peacocks as they beat Merthyr Town 2-1 at the Cygnet Health Care Stadium on Tuesday.
The sensational end to the game was at odds with what went before as Town struggled to impose themselves on their visitors.
Jared Lewington opened the scoring for the hosts after 24 minutes when he chested down a long Nick Grimes pass to turn and fire home inside the near post.
However the visitors were level ten minutes later when Kieran Evans’ cross was neatly volleyed home by Eliot Richards.
The second half proved frustrating for the Peacocks who missed several chances to regain the lead.
It wasn’t until a Lloyd James corner seven minutes into added time was not punched clear and Stearn hooked the ball into the net to send the home fans into delirium.
The win lifts Town up to third place but they know they will have to improve for the visit of leaders Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday.
