MK Dons 6-0 Taunton Town

TAUNTON Town were beaten by the better side in their FA Cup First Round match against MK Dons this afternooon (Saturday, November 5).

The hosts controlled posession and proceedings right from the off and barely let Taunton get any ground going forward.

Credit must go to the travelling Taunton Town fans. Nearly 1,000 of them were loud from start to finish and out-sang their MK Dons counterparts.

The front three of Dawson Devoy, Will Grigg and Louie Barry ran riot and were the driving force in all the goals.

In the sixth minute Dawson Devoy opened the scoring with a direct free kick from the edge of the box. It find a gap in the four-man wall and Bycroft was left blinded. A cheap goal.

But soon after it was two as Northern Ireland international Will Grigg was played in by Daniel Harvey. It was another easy goal for Taunton to give away.

From this point on the hosts looked to calm the game down and they did. For the remainder of the first half they dominated posession.

Taunton created some chances but all from free kicks lobbed into the box. The visitors found it very difficult to string a few passes together.

In the second half, MK Dons started it off perfectly with a third goal. Devoy played a great lobbed pass over to Darragh Burns who kept his cool and smashed it pass Bycroft.

At 3-0 it was all but game over and MK Dons made some defensive subs; Grigg, Barry and Harvie all coming off.

Taunton brought on Dave Sims-Burgess and Dylan Morgan who did inject some spirit later in the match.

Jack Bycroft was perhaps one of Taunton's best players despite the scoreline as he made at least five brilliant saves.

However he was helpless when Mo Eisa picked the ball up on the outside of the box and launched the ball into the top right corner to make it 4-0 in the 73rd minute.

Substitute Conor Grant then ran in two goals in ten minutes for himself to take his side to 6-0 up. Both goals were similar, he was played in behind and just had Bycroft to beat.

A very late Ross Stearn effort the sailed narrowly over the bar was Taunton's best chance of the afternoon and that was all for the match.

It ended 6-0 an Taunton Town's brilliant FA Cup run ended in the First Round proper.

Truly though, they did very well to get to this stage and the Peacocks fans who travelled to MK Dons were incredible from start to finish.
