Wadebridge Camels 24-7 Wellington
The Chiefs made their last long trip of the season last Saturday but despite a committed performance they came away empty handed.
Numerous injuries & unavailabilities meant that The Chiefs squad was a player short on the day, two made their 1st XV debuts, one made their first appearance of the season & another returned from long term injury.
The score does not tell the whole the story of the game, The Camels deserved the win no doubt about that, but The Chiefs were highly competitive throughout and were extremely unlucky to score at least another two tries.
The 24 points The Camels scored in the first half they had to work extremely hard for, it wasn’t one way traffic though in the first half as The Chiefs put together some fine passages of play & threatened The Camels line on numerous occasions.
The Chiefs points came from George Hodgson with Will Brewer converting during a highly competitive 2nd period.
Despite the result there was lots of positives to take from the game.
Debutants Ollie Williams & Cam Mathews can be extremely proud of their performances with Mathews playing out of position on the wing. Joe Dyke making his 1st appearance for The Chiefs this season had a good game in the second row whilst Jack Richards playing in the back row was outstanding all game.
Squad: Hancock, Phillips, Warren, Dyke, Machin, Richards, Kitto, Lee (cpt), Brewer, Hodgson(G), Mathews, Williams, Hodgson(W), Hart, Gordan, Redwood, Bellamy
No games next weekend for both senior teams, next fixtures are on 26th Nov when The Chiefs welcome Sherborne to The Athletic Ground & the 2nds travel to Somerton.
