Triathlete Daisy Davies is back home in Somerset after finishing in eighth place in the World Under-23 Championships that took place in Abu Dhabi at the weekend.
Daisy, who is 20 years old, was going into the race as a first year Under-23 and this was also her first proper Olympic distance race - 1,500 metre swim, 40k bike ride and 10k run, so she was pleased with the result.
She said: “After a long season, it was great to finish on a high with eighth place at the World U23 Championships in Abu Dhabi.
"My main aim was just to gain experience and learn.
“To finish with a top eight result was massive boost to my confidence knowing the time and effort I put into my training is paying off. I’m now having a week or so of easy training, before a solid winter’s worth of work in preparation for hopefully an exciting 2023 season.”
Daisy trains at Bath University part time with the British Triathlon squad, and is hoping to progress onto the British Lottery-funded programme for the Olympics in 2024 out in Paris, so there is plenty for her to look forward to.
Her first event of 2023 will be the Senior European Cup in Quarteria, Portugal, on March 25.
