Counties 1 Tribute Western West: Wiveliscombe 15-17 Paignton
WIVELISCOMBE had to make do with a losing bonus point for the second week running after another close game against their visitors Paignton.
The home team had the edge in lineouts and scrums but failed to convert possession into points with their attacks breaking down on numerous occasions.
Playing up the slope in the first half Wivey went seven points down when Paignton player of the match, flyhalf Brad Mckee scored a try which he also converted.
Will Thorne pulled Wiveliscombe a try back howing good strength to cross for try to make it 5-7.
Paignton increased their lead when captain and prop Alex Pozniak was driven over by his fellow forwards to score the visitors second try, Brad Mcknee slotted the conversion.
Into the second half Wiveliscombe were hoping to increase the pressure on the visitors and this they did to a certain extent with tries from Dan Rottenbury and Charlie Sharland with the latter adding one conversion.
However, Paignton caught the home team napping in the final seconds of the game when scrum half Dewald Stoop burst through to score his teams third try which was converted by Mcknee.
Wiveliscombe were left thinking this was a game they should of won, in the end the visitors took thier chances and importantly slotted their kicks which won them the game.
