Regional 2 Tribute South West: Wellington 19-27 Sidmouth
WELLINGTON Chiefs were beaten in their first home game of the season, as Sidmouth RFC were too good on the day.
In the match in the Tribute South West Regional 2, Wellington were in control for much of the first half thanks to a more effective kicking game.
And the home side opened the scoring with a penalty kicked by Rob Hooper back and shortly after Wellington scored the first try from a maul with Dan Lee scoring. It was converted and the score was 10-0.
Sidmouth pulled a penalty and then a converted try before half time after Wellington were given a yellow card.
Although Hooper extended their lead with another penalty after the break, Sidmouth took control and took the lead for the first time of the match.
The visitors extended the lead before Wellington narrowed the gap with a fourth penalty before Jake Allen completed the scoring with a similar effort to seal the win for Sidmouth.
