Counties 1 Tribute Western West: Wiveliscombe 19 - 37 Tavistock
FOURTH placed Tavistock proved to be a bit to strong for Wivey in this Western Counties West encounter on the Wivey Rec.
The visitors have had a good run of results after loosing their first game of the season after promotion from the the Devon league and were obviously a team to watch after beating league leaders Plymstock last weekend.
Playing down the slope in the first half Tavistock took a 0pts 22pts lead playing some attractive rugby, Especially through their backs, Jack Rock, Liam Watts and Ed Tait scored a try apiece , Scrum half George Hilson added two conversions and a penalty.
Wiveliscombe had their moments but as has been the case this season they failed to finish promising opportunities.
Their first half points came from second row Rob White, Who made his debut for Wivey last week. He showed good strength to score the home teams opening try, Dan Quick converted. HT. 7pts 22pts.
Wiveliscombe had a good period of play early in the second half and closed the visitors lead to ten points with Richard Baker crossing for Wivey's second try. 12pts 22pts.
Wiveliscombe lost players through injury including Rob White who suffered a nasty looking leg injury and Tavistock increased the pressure. No8 Jamie Legg and scrumhalf George Hilson added a try each with Hilson converting one and added a penalty soon after to complete the visitors scoring. 12pts 37pts.
To their credit Wivey continued to play some good rugby and were rewarded with their third try from Centre Will Thorne which he also converted. FT. 19pts 37pts.
