Tribute South West Regional Two: Cullompton 44-10 Wellington Chiefs
IT was a tough derby weekend for the Wellington Chiefs as they were well beaten by Cullompton on Saturday afternoon.
In the match played in Cullompton, the home side were too good, winning 44-10.
The Chiefs were hoping to bounce back after their narrow defeat against Topsham last time out but unfortunately were unable to build on that performance.
The hosts ran away to a 27-3 point lead at the half time interval, Alex Davey scoring from a penalty for Wellington's only score.
And in the second half, Cullompton continued their forward movement taking the lead up to 44-3.
Wellington did cross for a consolation try at the end, scored by Will Hodgson, which was converted by Davey.
The result leaves them seventh in the table and they will look to pick themselves up next Saturday when second-from-bottom Truro visit the Athletic Ground.
