Tribute South West Regional Two: Truro 31-26 Wellington Chiefs
WELLINGTON Chiefs RFC suffered a five point defeat at the weekend against Truro in the Tribute South West Regional Two.
Despite a spirited second half fightback, the Chiefs fell just short and made the long trip home from Cornwall defeated.
The hosts went ahead with a converted try only for Wellington to equalise with a try from Liam Phillips to which Alex Davey added the extras.
However before half time, the home side ran in three more tries which were all converted to lead 28-7 at the break.
Truro extended their lead with a penalty early in the second half before the Chiefs began a fightback.
Wellington scored three tries, two for Josh Hancock and one from Chris Batts all in quick succession. Davey added two more conversions to bring the score to 31-26.
But that would be the final score as Truro held on to their lead to secure their first league win of the season.
Next Saturday the Chiefs will look to bounce back with a win when they travel away to take on Newton Abbot.
