Tribute South West Regional Two: Wellington Chiefs 10-20 Wadebridge Camels
AT the weekend, the Wellington Chiefs put in a very strong performance despite defeat at home to league leaders Wadebridge Camels.
The match at the Athletic Ground in the Tribute South West Regional Two ended 10-20 in favour of the visitors however the Chiefs took it down to the wire.
Confidence was high amongst the Wellington squad after a big win last week against Newton Abbot.
The first half was fought mainly in the middle as both sides were strong defensively.
It was 0-8 at the break to the visitors and it would have been more if it wasn't for the Chiefs strong work rate in defence.
Wadebridge extended their lead in the second half with a second try, before Alex Davey pulled three points back with a penalty.
Soon after that, Liam Davey went over for a try, which was converted by Davey, to reduce the deficit to 10-13.
However, late on in the match Wadebridge were able to cross again, this time for a converted try and the final score was 10-20.
The result sees the Chiefs remain in seventh place in the table with a trip to North Petherton up next on Saturday, December 2.
