AFTER Taunton Town's match against Eastbourne Borough on Saturday was abandoned at half time due to fog, all eyes switched to their scheduled match on Tuesday night against Slough.

Unfortunately that game was postponed earlier in the week due to a waterlogged pitch.

This means that when the Peacocks take to the pitch this Saturday, at home to Farnborough, it will be the first match they have played in 14 days. If the weather holds that is.

Of course that first half performance against Eastbourne counts for the players belief, but despite leading the match 2-1, it will not provide any points for Taunton on the table.

Head of football Rob Dray said despite it not technically meaning much, it was a good showing from his squad and one that he hopes they take confidence from going forward.

"The first half was magnificent, getting two early goals like that, it was really really good. Sometimes when it is against you, it is against you.

"Very pleasing for us today to extend our goal numbers, we scored a good goal at Worthing, two good goals at Welling, we were dominant for the first part.

"We would have just managed the game out in the second half to try and get the win, just disappointing to be called off, but I see the referee's reasoning if I am honest."

Nick McCootie looked good in that first half against Eastbourne as he scored a goal and made a nuisance of himself.

"He was a menace today," Dray said.

"Wouldn't like to be marking him, I think it must have been the sausage roll he ate on the bus, always likes one of them before the match."

December is a fixture-filled month for Taunton Town as they were scheduled to play nine games in the calendar month.

So far the first two have been postponed or abandoned, but that leaves seven more games to play over the next three weeks.

Dray added: "We will get home now, dust ourselves down and move forward as it is always disappointing to get yourself in a winning position only for the game to be called off.

"But we have a busy month ahead, that is for sure."

Taunton host Farnborough at the Somerset Campervan Co Stadium on Saturday, December 9, kick off is at 3pm.
