Boxing Day annual match: Wiveliscombe 26-10 Wellington
WIVELISCOMBE RFC were in control for large parts of the annual Boxing Day match against Wellington Chiefs on Tuesday.
A dominant first half display earned Wiveliscombe up for victory, 26-10 over Wellington Chiefs at a packed Recreation Ground.
It was an impressive win for Wivvy as currently the Chiefs play in the league above their old rivals but the match played out differently to how many would have expected.
Wivey went ahead with a try which was converted and added two more unconverted tries and a penalty to lead 20-0 at half-time.
In the second half, The Chiefs mounted a fight back and scored a try through Ash Harney with the extras missed.
The hosts were able to extend the lead with a further two penalties and the final score was an unconverted try from Johnny Clist for Wellington.
In the end it was another entertaining clash for the fans of these two clubs and the festive spirit was on show at full time.
