Tribute South West Regional Two: Teignmouth 53-25 Wellington Chiefs
FOR the first time in 2024, the Wellington Chiefs were in action at the weekend however they were dealt a heavy defeat on the Devon coast.
In their match in the Tribute South West Regional Two, the Chiefs were beaten by a strong Teignmouth side 53-25 away from home.
The high scoring affair was started off with a Rob Hooper penalty to send the Chiefs in front early on but Teignmouth drew level with a penalty of their own.
Wellington regained the lead with an unconverted try by George Hodgson however the hosts were then able to cross for two converted tries.
The Chiefs kept the score line close as Hodgson scored again making it 17-15, but the hosts yet again stretched the lead with two more tries.
Danny Lee scored just before half time and then Olly Price scored one for the Chiefs in the second half but Teignmouth ran away with the match at that point as they finished the stronger with two converted tries and a penalty to pass the 50-point mark.
