Counties 1 Tribute Western West: Wiveliscombe 32-26 Plymstock Albion Oaks
WIVELISCOMBE continued their recent good form with this fourth victory in their last five games played, writes Roger Bellamy.
This is even more satisfying seeing the win was over league leaders Plymstock Albion Oaks who are having a good season.
Playing down the slope in the first half Wivey had to score early on to stand any chance of competing with Plymstock and a Dan Quick penalty gave Wivey a 3-0 lead.
After the visitors scored a try, Wivey turned on the style with tries through Tim Greenyway, Paddy Holiday and Dan Quick.
Before half time veteran forward John Palk scored to give Wiveliscombe a 23-7 lead at the break.
Plymstock brought it back in contention at 26-14, and another try from Matt Jackson reduced Wiveys lead to five points.
Soon after the score was levelled at 26 all and the game was up for grabs.
But later on, Dan Quick who kicked well throughout the game converted two more penalties to give Wiveliscombe a deserved victory 36-26.
