Tribute South West Two: Topsham 54-3 Wellington Chiefs
IN what was a tough battle, Wellington Chiefs suffered a big loss away from home against Topsham on Saturday, January 27.
In the match in Devon, the Chiefs lost 54-3 as Topsham were far too strong from start to finish.
The result means Wellington drop down to ninth place in the Tribute South West Two division.
Despite the scoreline, the game started well for Wellington as they took the lead after an early Alex Davey penalty put them ahead.
From that point on though, the hosts took back and stayed in control as they ran in three tries before half time to have a 19-3 lead.
Then in the second half it was more of the same, as they scored five more converted tries to complete a convincing victory.
Back at home, the Wellington 2nds earned a 27-14 win over Tor RFC at the Athletic Ground.
On Saturday, the Chiefs are home to Cullompton as they look to bounce back to winning ways.
