National League South: Welling United 0-0 Taunton Town
TAUNTON Town secured a well-earned point after a 0-0 draw at fellow strugglers Welling United in the Vanarama National League South on Saturday (February 3) afternoon.
Both sides were probably happy with a vital point at this stage in the season but it was a game played largely in the middle of the park with few chances.
Captain Nick Grimes returned to the starting line-up for the match at centre back which pushed Lloyd James into midfield once again.
The first half was cagey as neither side wanted to risk a mistake and in fairness both sides defended well.
A game of few clear chances might have gone Town’s way after the break when the Wings had Dominic Odusanya sent off for a challenge on Callum Dolman after 73 minutes.
Despite late pressure though the Peacocks were unable to capitalise as their winless run extended to nine matches which they now need to focus on resolving when Truro City visit Wordsworth Drive on Tuesday evening.
