Regional 2 Tribute South West: Wellington 33-7 Newton Abbot
AFTER a week off, Wellington Chiefs returned to action on Saturday (March 9) and recorded a very impressive win at home over Newton Abbot.
The match in the Regional Two Tribute South West ended 33-7 in favour of Wellington in front of a loud crowd at the Athletic Ground.
Wellington took an early 14-0 lead thanks to tries from Cam Venn and Liam Phillips, both of which were converted by the ever reliable Alex Davey.
Before half time the Chiefs went further in front as Regan Walker crossed for his sides third try of the afternoon and Davey converted to make it 21-0 at half time.
In the second period Wellington were quick out the gate as Jenkinson extended the lead with another try, this one unconverted.
The visitors then pulled a try back to give them some hope but Wellington soon squashed that as Venn crossed for his second and Davey converted to wrap up a 33-7 win at home.
The Chiefs now prepare for an away trip to take on Wadebridge Camels next Saturday.
