A thrilling victory for King’s College, Taunton, over Nailsea School Academy saw them advance to the final of the Somerset School’s FA Boys Under 19 Area Cup winning the match 3-2 on home soil.
The match was an excellent representation of schools football with both sides competing for every ball. The early exchanges were even but Nailsea opened the scoring with a fine free kick. King’s responded well and equalised quickly afterwards to reach half time on level terms.
A defensive error early in the second half proved costly when the ball was gifted to a Nailsea striker who made no mistake to put the visitors into the lead.
Trailing 2-1 the King’s Head of Football James Ward made a couple of substitutions and it was one of those who proved to be the match winner scoring twice in the last 20 minutes to edge the game .
King’s now face either Beechen Cliff, Bath or Kings of Wessex, Cheddar in the final at a venue and date yet to be decided.
King’s College continues to grow its reputation for its Football programme with six boys teams and one girls team currently active throughout the spring term.
In addition to qualifying for the final, King’s First XI and Second XI both top their Independent Schools Football Association leagues unbeaten and the Girls are currently top of theirs.
