THE past week for Taunton Town FC has been more positive that many would have expected as they recorded two very big wins in the National League South.
On Saturday they defeated promotion chasing Worthing 1-3 away from home and then on Tuesday night they went to Plainmoor and beat Torquay 0-3.
Speaking after the Torquay win, head of football Rob Dray said it has been a tough period but he is beyond proud of the group of players.
"Very, very pleased tonight, I think over the 90 minutes, a clean sheet away at Torquay is really pleasing," he said.
"The way that we acquitted ourselves and dominated large parts of the game, we took our goals really well, I have no complaints and I am incredibly proud of that group after what they have been through this year."
Despite that, Dray made it clear he thought the Peacocks were the better side in the match.
"I think the football gods gave the boys a little bit back tonight but we were the better team by quite a margin tonight," he said.
Moving forward, despite the performances, Dray wants the players to know there is still work to be done to avoid relegation.
He said: "I've told the group that when you have games like this and get a win like this, add to it what those players have been through in the last few months, you can enjoy that win but stay a little bit humble.
"Because we still have work to do, a lot to do to round this off now and finish where we want to.
"It has certainly been a moving week and an enjoyable night, but I think we will keep our heads down now a little bit."
Dray added: "We had a good number of fans here tonight and I am really pleased for them because they have been through a lot as well as we all have."
Moving forward, it doesn't get any easier for the Peacocks as the disrupted fixture schedule now sees them having to play on Thursday night and Saturday afternoon.
Dray said: "We will take confidence from this game, but the league haven't done us any favours asking us to play on a Thursday night, I don't think it is right.
"I think it makes a mockery of the league, the National League itself, it will be very difficult for these lads to get themselves together after two games already.
"It is just one game at a time for us now though and we will be prepped and ready for Thursday."
